Colleen Holman Barton, 95, of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away on December 28, 2021, in Alpine, Utah.

Colleen was born April 4, 1926, in Sugar City, Idaho to Burdette Holman and Clarissa Jensen Holman. She was raised in the Upper Valley as well as finishing her high school years in Salt Lake City.

She continued her pursuit of a college education over the years at Rick's College and online courses at the University of Utah.

On August 26, 1948 she married Hal C. Barton in Salt Lake City. They were blessed with 2 sons and 3 daughters and spent their lifetime in Rexburg with the exception of 2 years spend teaching in rural Utah.

In addition to being a wife and mother, she helped operate Barton Music in Rexburg and also returned to her passion of teaching school at Madison Jr. And Sr. High School's in Rexburg, Idaho.

Colleen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous callings throughout her life. Her favorite calling was to Norway, where she served with Hal. Both learned Norwegian and loved the people they became friends with while on their mission.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Jesse) Byram of Rigby, Idaho, Melody (Paul) McKernan of Annandale, Virginia, Kelli (Randy) Rhodes of Alpine, Utah; sons, Breck (Maurie) Barton of Rexburg, Idaho, Bruce (Connie) Barton of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Joy England of Saratoga Springs, Utah; brother Kent of California; 28 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; granddaughter, Susan; brothers LaVar and Ray; sister Madge.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Flamm Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Tuesday, January 4 at Flamm Funeral Home, prior to services.
