Laura Colleen Saurey Graham, 83, of Moody Creek died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at her home. She was born April 28, 1930 at the family home in Hibbard, Idaho, to Heber Charles Saurey and Sophy Ricks Saurey. She was the youngest of eight children. Colleen attended elementary school in Hibbard and graduate from Madison High School.
She married W. Dean Graham of Moody, May 21, 1947 in Soda Springs, Idaho. They started their married life in Tendoy, Idaho, cattle ranching and farming hay crops. She cooked for large groups of hired men and became known for her delicious meals. They started a family and had four children two girls and two boys. Colleen loved to ride horses and help Dean with the livestock sometimes with a baby tied in a dishtowel around her neck and waist.
They had the opportunity to move back to Madison County in 1959 to buy a farm in Moody. Together, with her husband, they raised beef cattle, sugar beets, potatoes, grain and hay. Colleen started working outside the home when her children were in school. She was employee by the State of Idaho and worked at the State Youth Services Center in St. Anthony as a supervisor for both the boys and girl departments. She worked there for 20 years.
She took many credited classes at Ricks College to advance in her career. She also took many sewing classes as she love to sew for her family. Her hobbies were making ceramic dolls and sewing beautiful doll clothes. She was known for her lovely yard, flowers and gardens. She is a member of the Teton 1st ward LDS Church.
She is survived by her Husband of 65 years, children, Tony Graham (Hidy) of Rigby, Patrice Gerrie ( Bob) of Polson, Montana, James Graham (Jolie) of Moody. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A sister Ruby Kinney of St. George Utah and a brother Lyle Saurey of St. George. She is preceded in death by her parents a daughter Deanne Graham and a grandson Jerimy Graham Hunter, her siblings, Reed Saurey, Grant Saurey, Ruth Hall, Iola Jeppesen, and Darlene Blackburn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23,2013 at the Teton LDS First Ward in Teton, Idaho. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services as the church.
