Cordel Burton Knight, 53, of Rexburg, died Thursday, February 14, 2020. He was born on March 19, 1966 in Chico, California to John Franklin Weaver Knight and Madelyn Swainston. He grew up in Rancho Cordova, California where he attended Cordova High School.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission from 1989 to 1991 in the England London South Mission.
He married Karla Lee Sedgwick, with whom he had three children; Jacob "Jake", Paige and Jaren. They later divorced.
He loved the outdoors and beautiful scenery. He discovered a passion for cooking while working as a cook at a ski resort shortly after he finished high school. This led to a lifelong career as a chef and caterer. He expressed his talents with food as he lived and worked in northern California, Washington, the Treasure Valley, and Rexburg.
He is survived by his children; Jacob (Stephanie) Knight, of Rexburg, Idaho, Paige (Jeremy) Cleek of Sacramento, California, and Jaren Knight currently serving in the Marine Corps.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at Flamm Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
