Obituary

Dahlan Ross Gardner of Teton City, Idaho, passed away surrounded by his family and his music Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at the age of 78.

Dahlan was born October 29, 1939. He was married to Barbara Lee Wellard on September 1, 1961, until Barbara's death, January 31, 1998. They had two children: Brian Lee Gardner, February 27, 1962, and Lanny Ross Gardner, March 20, 1967.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Lee Gardner; mother, Erma, and father, Ross Gardner, as well as by his baby sister, Renae. He is survived by: his sister, Gayla (husband, Skip) Kellogg of Eagle, Idaho; and his brothers Kenneth (wife, Linda) Gardner and Loren (wife, Marge) Gardner, both of St. Anthony, Idaho; and Keven (wife, Sandy) Gardner of Quincy, Washington, as well as many many nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his children Connie (husband, Manny) Silva of Manteca, California; Brian Gardner of Boise, Idaho; and Lanny (wife, Tonya) Gardner of Teton City, Idaho. He has 8 grandchildren: Amy Silva of Manteca, California; Natashia (husband, Darcey) Saurey of Box Elder, South Dakota; Tyler Gardner of Boise, Idaho; Stormie (husband, Taylor) Marler of St. Anthony, Idaho; Colton (wife, Ayla) Gardner of Pocatello, Idaho; Gage Gardner of St. Anthony, Idaho; Alisabeth Gardner of Teton City, Idaho; and River Gardner of Teton City, Idaho. He has 4 great grand children: Rhyler & Bexley Saurey of Box Elder, South Dakota; and Lyndon Rinehart III & Ryan Marler of St. Anthony, Idaho.

Dahlan worked for Hopperdietzel Cheese in St. Anthony, Idaho for 13 years, then went to the St. Anthony stud mill for the next 16 years. He finished up roughly the last 8 years of his work career at Idaho Fresh Pack in Lewisville, Idaho.

From March 18, 1958, to March 17, 1960, Dahlan served in active Army as a cook, then went into the Army National Guard in May 27, 1960 and was honorably discharged May 26, 1963. He received the State of Idaho Service Ribbon for his services.

In his younger years, Dahlan loved bowling, bowling on several leagues and even bowling a perfect 300 score (12 strikes in a row!) on November 18th, 1975, at Park Lanes Bowling Center in Rexburg, Idaho while bowling on Lutz's Service Team.

He also enjoyed golfing, and in his later years, socialized at GoCGo, formerly Teton Junction in Teton City, Idaho. There were many trips to the local bars in St. Anthony with his friends to catch shows, as well.

Dahlan loved visiting with his friends, telling stories about those friends, and was constantly surrounded by family; the last 5 years of his life living with his son, Lanny and family.

We also want to extend our heartfelt deepest appreciation to Ambria and Mary of Aspen Home Health and Hospice. These nurses went out of their way to ensure comfort for Dahlan during his final days.

The family will meet with friends at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N.) in St. Anthony, Idaho, Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. After the Eulogy is read, the family will invite anyone to come up and share memories if they choose. He would love to know he left lasting memories with his friends and family. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery with military rites.
