Obituary

William Dale Bond passed away on July 15, 2012 in Rexburg, Idaho. He was born on December 1, 1923 to Karl Ervin Bond and Mae Walker Bond in Shiprock, New Mexico.

Dale served his country honorably as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He was proud of the privilege of standing for freedom, even in the midst of battle on the high seas.

He completed his education, with studies at Columbia University, UCLA and Brigham Young University. His degree in accounting prepared him for years as a successful retail business owner in Shiprock, New Mexico. Customers, employees and vendors respected his integrity and high values as he conducted his business affairs.

Despite these successes, Dale most highly valued his family and the service he was able to render his fellow men, and the Lord, whom he loved.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In addition to many callings including home teacher, bishop, high councilor and Stake Sunday School president, Dale served 4 missions and served many years as an ordinance worker in three different temples. When he was not on an assigned temple shift, Dale spent time serving as a patron. He was heartbroken when his deteriorating health made it necessary to be released from the Rexburg Idaho Temple.

Dale would say his most important legacy is his family. He married Adelaide Call in the Salt Lake Temple on August 18, 1948. She truly was his best friend. Dale and Adelaide were exemplary parents for their six children, and endowed them with a strong foundation of values and love. Sadly, Adelaide passed away on November 23, 1993. Deep sadness filled his heart until he met and then married Phyllis Davis in October of 1994. Phyllis has filled Dale's life with joy, more opportunities to serve and special companionship.

Dale is survived by his selfless companion Phyllis, his six children Deena (David) Christensen, Karlena (John) Gonzalez, Dale (Julie) Bond, Tyler (Patricia) Bond, Verlie (Neil) Brown, and Shane (Vicki) Bond. In addition he has been blessed with 32 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Rexburg LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 166 South 1st East. The family will receive friends that morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Memorial Estates Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84121.
