Obituary

Dale Rice Kunz, 87, of Rexburg, died peacefully at his home on June 2, 2011. He was born Jun 9,1923 in Bates, Idaho to James H. and Arleigh Drake Kunz. He was raised in Victor, Idaho.

Dale married Betty Cooper on September 3,1944 in Benton, Arkansas. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1955. They lived in Teton Valley, where he farmed with his dad and brothers until 1960, when they moved to their current home in Salem, north of Rexburg. He farmed and was employed with the Youth Services Center in St. Anthony, and later with the State Inspection Service until his retirement in 1985. After retirement, Dale and Betty enjoyed spending time with their family. They made several trips to St. George in the winter and Island Park in the summer, collecting rocks for their yard everywhere they went.

Dale was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved attending the temple. He treasured the time he spent serving in the baptistry at the Rexburg Temple. He loved and lived for his sweet "Darling" wife and family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Rexburg; children Jim (Katie) Kunz of Idaho Falls, Hal (Debby) Kunz of West Jordan, Utah, Shane (Debbie) Kunz of St. Anthony, Jill (Bruce) Wilding of Salem, Ann (Lee) Dexter of Rexburg; a brother, Keith (Betty) Kunz of Victor, two sisters, Faye Berger of Bountiful, Utah and Denice (Max) Rammell of Rexburg, 24 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Merle and Duane, and a great-granddaughter, Brevan Belnap.
