Obituary

Damian Jonathan Secol, 35, returned to his Heavenly Father on December
2, 2016 at his home in Hibbard following a courageous battle with
lymphoma cancer. He was born the oldest of four children to Stephen
Secol and Kathie McPherson in Westwood, California on October 21, 1981.

He was homeschooled and received his GED in education. At the age of 21 he was tracted out by two senior sister missionaries and was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while he was living in Montana in 2003. Following an honorable mission to Nevada Las Vegas West, he attended BYU-Idaho and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Recreation Management in 2015. He worked for LDS Philanthropies while attending BYU-Idaho and was instrumental in raising donations for the university. He also completed an internship with the Rexburg Chamber of Commerce prior to graduation and established a relationship with many local business owners.

Damian was happy person with a positive attitude even in his final days. Always when asked how he was he replied, "I'm pretty good." He was a creative person, often making robots, doll houses and furniture, and toy tanks out of what his wife would call trash such as cardboard, empty juice containers and straws. He used his vivid imagination to create role-playing games. He had a great memory and was able to pull up random facts and trivia.

Upon going to a class in family history he met the love of his life,
Cassie Marriner, who was the teacher's aid. After a short courtship they
were married in the Boston, Massachusetts LDS Temple for time and all
eternity on 28 December 2010. They returned to Rexburg where they both
continued their schooling at BYU-Idaho and then began raising a family.

Damian was a attentive father to their four children. He loved spending time with daughter, Avia (5), son, Luke (3), daughter, Cecily (2) and daughter, Eliza (1 month). One week before his death he was able to give his new baby daughter a name and blessing.

The family celebrated an early Christmas the night before his passing
where he was able to sing a Primary song with the children and see them open several small gifts. His last words to his children and his wife were, "I love you."

Damian is survived by is wife, Cassie, children, Avia, Luke, Cecily and Eliza of the family home; father Stephen Secol of California; mother Kathie (Brady) Miller of Montana; and sisters Rayvin (William) Jenkins of California, Psalm Secol, and brother Bram Secol of Montana.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Eli and Mildred Secol, Sharon Miller, and Howard McPherson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10th, at the Henry Fork Stake Center, 1508 W 3000 N, Rexburg, Idaho Bishop Corey Child officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Burton Cemetery.
