Obituary

Major Daniel R. McGrew passed away peacefully January 11, 2016 at his home in
Edmonds, WA.

He was born January 21, 1921 and was raised by his wonderful parents Guy and
Grace (Adams) McGrew. He enjoyed a happy childhood in Port Townsend, WA
working side by side with his father in their auto repair shop and they enjoyed
countless hours of fishing together. He was taught by his parents to value hard
work and to live a life of integrity.

Daniel joined the United States Army in 1941. During his service, he earned a
Master's Degree in Military Science and retired with the rank of Major. He served
through World War II where he fought at the Battle of the Bulge, and in Korea,
Japan, and twice in occupied Germany.

In 1941, Daniel met the love of his life, Medreth Murilda Hinkle. They were married November 16, 1945. With Daniel's marriage to Medreth, he became the beloved father of Norma and they were later blessed with a daughter Danielle.

The family traveled the world together as Daniel served twenty-three years in the
Army. They enjoyed many happy times and loved being together. Daniel retired to what he referred to as "God's Country," Washington. He loved going out on his fishing boat in Puget Sound and the many wonderful friends he met at the marina. He served faithfully in his church and was a member of the Faith Community Church in Edmonds, WA.

He enjoyed visiting friends and making new ones, traveling, and visits from his family members.

Daniel is survived by his two daughters, Danielle Sengel and Norma (Clifton)
Parker, six grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, and fifteen great-great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Medreth, son-in-law Edward William Sengel III, grandson Daniel R. Parker, great grandson Jason Shenton, his parents, and his sister Minerva and brother Charles Schick.

Daniel will be remembered for his example of a gentleman, and his positive attitude, quick wit, happy personality, service to his country, charity to others, and
dedication to his family. His devotion to his beloved wife, Medreth was an inspiration to everyone.

Services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the St. Anthony 4th LDS Ward Chapel with his grandson-in-law Bishop Rod Perkins officiating.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00-10:45 AM. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
