Danny Lee
Chiddix
April 13, 1945 – September 22, 2021
On the evening of September 22, 2021, Danny Lee Chiddix, peacefully passed into the next life, with his wife watching over him at home.
Dan began this life in Hobart, Oklahoma. He is the son of Oliver Newell Chiddix and Norma Lee Autry, both deceased.
His family moved to Montana, where he loved fishing and hunting in the mountains. A full ride football scholarship decided where he would attend school. He spent his freshman year at Utah State, then transferred to play for Ricks College.
While at Ricks College, he met his future wife, Claudia Jean Judd. They were married and finished school together at Western Montana College. Dan graduated with three degrees, Biology, Mathematics and Physical Education.
Dan had a successful career in Montana as a high school mathematics teacher and coach. He was cross country coach of the year 2 years in a row for the state of Montana. While completing a graduate degree at Montana Tech, he started the LDS church's Institute program for the campus. Dan faithfully served in callings within his church his entire life.
Dan moved his growing family to Idaho, accepting a job as a professor at Ricks College, where he taught for over 20 years. He mentored students and math teachers around the state for years, still managing to attend all the sporting events and concerts of his seven children.
As successful as his professional life was, where he truly shined was as a Grandpa. Nowhere can there be found a more generous man. He encouraged every talent and applauded every attempt at something new. He left a legacy of education, hard work, and generosity for future generations.
Dan is survived by his wife, Claudia Chiddix, and their seven children with spouses: Deborah McMullin (Sean), David Chiddix (Brinda), Tamara Boyle (Brandon), Lisa Frohn (Will), Cheri Primm (Reggie), Daniel Chiddix (Kaydee), Rebecca Walker (Kevin). His sister, Linda Bubash (Bob) still resides in Montana. Dan leaves behind 29 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
