IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Daran
Rawson
August 22, 1948 – November 23, 2022
Daran Gay McCurdy Rawson, 74, of St. Anthony, ID, passed away on November 23, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family after a short battle with breast cancer. Daran was born on August 22, 1948, in Drummond, ID. She was the first born to Don & Rosetta McCurdy. She waited 9 years before she got her sister, Laura and a year later her brother Brad. She loved growing up in Newdale, ID, where her dad ran the train depot. She loved swimming and working at Green Canyon along with chasing boys with her friends. She attended Sugar Salem High School where she was an honor student and played the clarinet in the pep band. During her high school years, she met her sweetheart Edward L Rawson. They dated on and off throughout high school. After graduation she moved to Boise and attended Links Business College. She couldn't wait to finish school and return home to Ed. They were married on December 15, 1967, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They enjoyed 53 years of married before her sweethearts passing on May 28, 2021.
Together they enjoyed many adventures and from these adventures came their 4 children, Jeff, Jeanette, Lisa, and Michael. Daran supported her husband through the years as they traveled living in different cities in Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and various cities in Southeast Idaho before settling in St. Anthony 35 years ago. During these times Daran worked in various bookkeeping positions but enjoyed her time at Melaleuca the best. She stayed working there until her first battle with cancer. She won that battle and was able to enjoy her children and her 14 grandchildren for many years.
Her family will always remember how she loved to go camping, fishing, long drives, big holiday dinners, movie nights with candy popcorn, annual Yellowstone trips, and our annual girls' trips as mother and daughters. She loved being in the mountains, she said that is where she always felt the most at home. She was a hard worker and always busy doing something. Her house was always clean, laundry was always done. Friends would always comment that her house was so clean they could eat off the floor. Until her health started to fail, she would spend countless hours outside cleaning the curbs, gutters, windows, and other places that most people would only clean once a year, but she did it weekly sometimes daily. She instilled a love of cleaning and cooking in all of us.
She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. She held many positions in the primary, cub scouts, young women, relief society, but her favorite was indexing that she did for years. She loved going visiting teaching, attending the temple, and do family history. She had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved to share it with her family. Her family was her pride and joy. Her beauty was beyond measure and her smile infectious.
Daran is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Kristy), Jeanette, Lisa (Andrew) Benson, and Michael (Tracy); 13 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; her siblings Laura Whitten and Brad McCurdy. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart Edward, her parents, and grandson Kelton Zundel.
