Darin LeRoy Hammond, age 46, of Rexburg, Idaho died Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in Rexburg, Idaho. He was born August 6, 1971 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Milton LeRoy Hammond and Karen Jo Holladay.
He graduated from Middleton High School. He also attended the University of Idaho, Ricks College, and BYU. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Idaho State University with a Master's Degree in English. He served an LDS mission in the Dominican Republic.
On May 28, 1994 he married Emilia Benilda Aranda in the Boise LDS Temple. He enjoyed teaching English at BYU-I. He loved the outdoors, music, learning, intelligent discussions, and was an avid reader. He encouraged his children to pursue a higher education. He often engaged in meaningful conversations with his children in a wide array of topics. He was a residential contract owner with his father, 3 brothers, and sister. He was a craftsman. He was a devoted, loving, and kind husband and father.
He is survived by his father, Milton, step-mother, Glenda, and 4 siblings: Kevin (Marcie) Hammond of Bellvue, Idaho, Cheri (Rick) Mullinix of Twin Falls, Idaho, Lana (Dan) Weber of Sugar Salem, Idaho, Brian (KayLynn) Hammond of Blackfoot, Idaho, also by his step-sisters: Kym (Tron) Crumley of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Korie. He is also survived by his wife, Emilia, and four children: Symphony, Gavin, Halle, and Eva all of Rexburg, and many nieces and nephews.
Darin is preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, at the Harvest Hill LDS Chapel located at 612 South Hidden Valley Road in Rexburg. The family will meet with friends and family on Wednesday, November 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Harvest Hills Ward building and again Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Hammond Children Education Fund at Beehive Federal Credit Union.
