IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darlene
Rogers
July 11, 1929 – April 3, 2022
Darlene Tingey Rogers passed away peacefully and quietly while at home Sunday, April 3, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Darlene was born July 11, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the second child of a family of eight children born to Robert Alonso Tingey and Jennie Williams Tingey. Her parents moved around in their early married years living in Brigham City, Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Butte, Montana. They settled in Brigham City where Darlene grew up working on the family farm.
Darlene graduated from Box Elder High School, then entered Weber College where she graduated in Home Economics with a two-year degree. She continued her education at Utah State University where she completed a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics in 1951. Darlene married Francis Myron Rogers on August 21, 1950 in the LDS Logan Temple. After their schooling, the family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where Francis accepted a teaching position. They later relocated their family to Oregon where Francis successfully fulfilled several teaching positions. They lived in La Grande, Oregon, St. Helens, Oregon, and Tigard, Oregon. The couple retired to King City, Oregon.
In 2013, Darlene and Francis prepared to move to Rexburg, Idaho to live with her daughter (Jean) and son-in-law (Adrian Baird). However, Francis passed away in December of that year. Darlene made the move to Rexburg herself, and has lived there since that time. Her kind loving disposition and sweet spirit endeared her to many people in her ward and neighborhood.
Darlene was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various callings in the Church including an LDS mission with her husband to the Philippines in 1989. Darlene absolutely loved researching family history, indexing, and working in the temple. She and Francis served faithfully as temple workers in the Portland, Oregon temple.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Beth Tingey Ransom (Vaughn) and Eunice Tingey, her brother Lowell Tingey (Cathy), and sisters-in-law LaRita Tingey (Robert) and Betty Tingey (Nolland).
