Darrell Charles Dalley, 84, died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Rexburg Care Center.
He was born December 8, 1929 in Driggs, Idaho the third child of Charles Claudius Dalley and Elen Martha Wallace Dalley. He grew up with two older brothers, three younger brothers and one younger sister.
Darrell attended school in Driggs, and graduated from Teton High School. He also spent some time at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. He was a voracious reader and was always studying. He was knowledgeable about many things. He was a real storehouse of knowledge.
He spent his whole life in Driggs. He lived with his parents throughout his life. He helped his father on the farm for many years. He was a great help to his parents as they aged.
Darrell and his father were avid "rock hounds" and he and his brothers & nephews went rock hunting many times. They found many wonderful specimens of jade, agate, petrified wood, etc. They cut, polished and made these rocks into beautiful jewelry of all kinds. They also sliced & polished and put these beautiful specimens into fireplaces and home entry ways. These were always so beautiful.
Darrell had no family of his own, but he is survived by brothers Alvin, Marvin and Francis (Linda) Dalley, sisters-in-law Veda Mae Dalley and Beverly Dalley and also a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wallace and Edward and sister, Nellene Allgood and her husband DuWayne Allgood, and sister-in-law Kaylene Dalley.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to Rexburg Care Center for the excellent care they gave Darrell.
He will be buried in the Driggs, Idaho Cemetery on Saturday, October 11, 2014. A memorial grave side service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
