Darrell Clemuel Neville, 94, of Rexburg, died March 4, 2018, at Madison Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born January 20, 1924, in Rigby, Idaho to Clemuel Jennings and Lizzie Klingler Neville. He spent his youth on the dry farm in Herbert. He lived in the Rexburg area his entire life, except for the two years he served in World War II.
He graduated from Madison High School in May of 1943. He married his high school sweetheart, Theda Cook, on June 2, 1943, in the Salt Lake Temple. That same month he was drafted into the Army where he served honorably as a Medic in the 99th Infantry Battalion until the war ended in 1945. He was in the Allied Invasion of Normandy on D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, and many other major conflicts in Europe.
When he returned home, he and his wife bought a small farm in the Hibbard area where they raised their six children. He has 30 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed farming with his family his entire life. In 1969, he and his two sons expanded their farming and ranching operation from Rexburg to Hamer and Ashton. He always said his best crop was his family.
He was always active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in whatever calling he was asked to fulfill. He and his wife were able to serve a mission together in Ohio in 1992 - 1993.
He is survived by his children, Stan (Barbara) Neville of Hamer, Connie (Curt) Bourne and Scott (Pam) Neville of Rexburg, Lori (Blake) Thomas of Rigby, Lesa (Mike) Bott of Clementsville, Keri (Mike) Reeder of Payson, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Theda; granddaughter Mandy Bell, grandson-in-law, Marc Bell, great-grandson, Dylan Bell; great-granddaughter Mabry Neville; and granddaughter-in-law, Kira Bott.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr.'s Eysser, Hardy, Lofgran and Clark; and the nursing and medical staff at Madison Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, at the Hibbard LDS Chapel, 2001 North 3000 West, with Bishop Dwight Wray officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and Saturday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery with military rites by the Idaho Honor Guard and Madison County Veterans.
