Obituary

Darwin J Jeppesen was born June 24, 1940 in Rexburg, Idaho to Wanda Althea Ard and Joseph Elmo Jeppesen. He died December 30, 2014 at his home in Ammon, Idaho. He was the oldest of five children. He grew up working on the family dry farm on the Rexburg bench. He attended schools in Rexburg, Idaho and joined the National Guard as a senior in high school. In 1959 he attended basic training in Fort Ord, California and later at Ford Leonard Wood, Missouri. He graduated from Ricks College in 1964 and served in the Northern States Mission. He then attended and graduated from Utah State University in 1966 with a degree in Agronomy.

He started his career with the Soil Conservation Service in June 1966 in Jerome, Idaho. He married Judy Sarah Morgan on November 4, 1966 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was transferred to Moscow, Idaho in 1967. In 1969 he was transferred to Burley, Idaho and his first son David J. Jeppesen was born in July 1969. He first daughter Amy Kay was born in July 1970 in Burley. His second daughter Saralee was born August 1973. In 1975 he changed government agencies and moved to Prineville, Oregon to work for the Bureau of Land Management as a soil scientist. His son Kent D. Jeppesen was born in January 1977 in Bend Oregon. He transferred with the BLM to Idaho Falls, Idaho in February 1979. His last son Mark Darwin Jeppesen was born in Idaho Falls in October 1979. He worked for the BLM until his retirement in December 2006.

His son Kent died in April of 1996 of injuries sustained after being hit by a police car involved in a high speed pursuit of a motorcyclist near Idaho Falls. He and Judy were divorced in 2000.

He was active an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held various callings. He spent may years in scouting and received the District Merit Award. He enjoyed boating, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with family. He was kind, compassionate, and gave much service to family, friends and neighbors.

He had many health problems for the last few years, starting with diabetes, then heart bypass surgery.

His is survived by his children, David (Stacey) Jeppesen of Boise, Idaho; Amy Jeppesen of Boise, Idaho; Saralee (Anthony) Yuen of Syracuse, Utah; Mark (Michelle) Jeppesen of Clearfield, Utah; and eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Kyle (Brenda) Jeppesen of Rexburg, Idaho; Ronald (Phyllis) Jeppesen of Rigby, Idaho; sister-in-law, Rita Jeppesen of Rexburg, Idaho; sister Connie Jeppesen of Rexburg, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gerald " Jerry" Jeppesen and his son Kent D. Jeppesen.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7th at the Ammon 26th Ward Chapel located at 1100 S. Tie Breaker Drive in Ammon. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. The interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
