David Clarence Janson
David Clarence Janson, 82, of Rexburg, died Tuesday April 20, 2010 at the Homstead Assisted Living Center. He was born April 11, 1928 in Burton, Idaho to David John and Leona Poulsen Janson. He attended school in the Madison School district. He graduated from Ricks College.
He served in the United States Navy.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission for 2 ½ years in Switzerland, where he met Liselotte Schaffner. After returning home from his mission he married Liselotte in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 22, 1951. They had five children.
He earned his teaching degree and was the principal in Ucon for six years. He then taught at Hawthorne Elementary in Idaho Falls until 1967 when he moved to the Seattle area. He taught at Cherry Elementary in Redmond and was director of Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics until he retired in 1993. In 1995 he and Liselotte moved back to Rexburg to be back home.
He was a passionate teacher and loved by all his students, fellow teachers and administrators. He was a perfect father, always our hero, and his love for his wife was an example to his children. We love you dad and will miss you.
He is survived by his wife Liselotte of Rexburg, children, Cheryl (Jon) Gaskill of Redmond, Washington, Daniel Janson and Holley Clarence (Cheryl) Janson of Snoqualmie Washington, Simone (Gregory) Rich of Holts Summer, Missouri, Darrell (Tara) Janson of Gainesville, Florida; a foster son Gary (Laura) Warleski of Woodenville, Washington; 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 26 at the Rexburg 15th Ward Chapel, 166 South 1st East. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Burton Cemetery.
