David Floyd Wilcox, Jr., 87, of Plano, died Monday, October 19, 2009, at Madison Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born August 29, 1922 in Rexburg, Idaho to David and Annie Heileson Wilcox. He attended school in Sunnydell and graduated from Madison High School in 1939. After graduation he attended Ricks College.
He served as a cook in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the Philippines, New Guinea and Japan.
He married Fay Meyers on December 3, 1954 in Reno, Nevada. In 1955, they moved to Plano where he was a farmer and rancher. He was the foreman for 10 years at Best Pack potato warehouse. He worked for the State of Idaho as a seed inspector for 10 years. After he retired he worked for various potato warehouses. He loved being a farmer and rancher. He also loved to go dancing with his wife and bowling. He enjoyed life and loved to have fun.
He is survived by his wife Fay of Plano; sons Hal (Vickie) Wilcox of Plano, Wade (Becky) Wilcox of Idaho Falls; a brother LeRoy (Lorna) Wilcox of Rexburg; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Boyd and Keith, and two sisters Jackie and Doris.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22 at the Plano LDS Chapel with Bishop Randy Brown officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Burial will be in the Plano Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to help with funeral expenses.
