David James Wood, 59, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at his home in Rigby. He was born January 27, 1951 at Pocatello, Idaho to Ferrin James and Laverna Young Wood. At age six, the family moved to Rexburg where David attended local schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1969. He married Kendra Barrand on December 27,1974 in Reno, Nevada. They lived a short while in Boise, Idaho and in 1976 they moved to Rigby. They later divorced. David was a mechanic at the INL, he was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he enjoyed camping and was an avid Hot Wheels collector. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard.

He is survived by his children; Daniel Wood of Price, Utah, Leslie (Eri k) Moss of Driggs, William Wood of Rigby, his father and step-mother; Jim and Shirley Wood of Rexburg, a sister Debra Carpenter of Rigby and brothers Steve Wood of Rexburg and Michael (Biya) Wood of Sugar City. He is preceded in death by his mother Laverna Wood.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the Rigby 4th Ward Capel (402 West 1st Northin Rigby) with Bishop Martin Raish officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Pocatello City Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home of Rexburg.
