Obituary
Dawn Arlene Thomas Virgin passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2017, at the age of 86.
Dawn was born July 13, 1930 to John Alexander Thomas and Marvella Annie Harris Thomas in Rigby, Idaho. Soon after, the family moved to Sugar City to run the family farm.
Dawn was the oldest of four children and worked hard on the farm as well as helped care for her two brothers and sister.
During her junior year in high school she fell in love with a handsome sailor who had recently returned home from World War II. She married Don C. Virgin, in the Idaho Falls Temple, on June 11, 1947. In the fall, she returned to Sugar-Salem High School, graduating with her class in 1948.
In the years that followed they enjoyed raising their four children, Gregg, Michael, Wendy, and Marcy. Don and Dawn worked together in providing for their family. For many years, she worked as a teacher's aide, assistant librarian and attendance secretary for the Sugar-Salem School District. She also worked as a receptionist in a dental office and in the lab of Roger's Brothers Potato Processing Plant in Rexburg.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities, one being as a devoted Visiting Teacher. She was always one of the first to offer help to those in need.
Since the passing of her beloved husband Don, in 2004, she has wanted
to be with him; she now has her wish.
Dawn is preceded in death by her husband Don C. Virgin, her brother Jim Thomas, her sister Sharlene Milligan, and her Great Grandson Solomon Payne.
She is survived by her brother Norman Thomas, and her children Gregg (Kay) Virgin, Michael (Carol) Virgin, Wendy Farley, and Marcy Virgin-Call, as well as 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15th at the Sugar City Stake Center. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
