Lyman Dean Smith, 63, of Rexburg, died May 22, 2016, at Madison Memorial Hospital. He was born April 4, 1953, in Rexburg to Lyman and Ruth Dawn Westover Smith. He attended local schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1973.
Dean married Gaylene Mortensen on October 22,1993, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. Dean was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as secretary in the Elders Quorum and High Priest group. He also taught primary with his wife.
Dean worked for Reed Oldham moving pipe and farming and for the city of Rexburg in the sanitation department. He worked for thirty-seven years at Tri-State Tire doing farm service calls and working in the tire store. He enjoyed watching movies and his wife, Gaylene, was the love of his life.
Dean is survived by his wife, Gaylene and siblings Alan Niel (Debby) Smith, Rose Marie Fetz and Melvin Ray (Corinne) Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the LDS church located at the corner of 1st South and 2nd West in Rexburg. Family and friends may call Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Thursday at the church from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would be blessed by donations to cover final expenses.
