Obituary

Dean Walters Zollinger, 89 of Rexburg, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at his home. He was born November 16,1921 at Rexburg to Charles Joseph Zollinger and Mable Stoddard Walters. He attended Adams and Washington grade schools, Madison High School and Ricks College.

He married Glenna I Archibald on February 10, 1942. She died in 1996. He married Larena Palmer Brower on November 10, 2000 at Wilford and they lived in Salem.

Dean served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as Sunday School superintendent, as a stake Seventy and a teacher. He was a farmer and rancher and loved raising livestock. He was active in FFA judging and showing cattle at shows and fairs including the Worlds Fair in San Francisco, California. He farmed in Salem and raised cattle in Hamer, Fogg Butte, Squirrel Meadows, Sand Creek and Kilgore. He love Hereford cattle.

Dean is survived by his wife Larena and his children; Wade A (Linda) Zollinger of Oakley,
Dennis (Mary) Zollinger of Salem, Thomas Dean (Darla) Zollinger of Rexburg, Ned A (Renae) Zollinger of Salem and Dean Archibald Zollinger of Salem, step-children; Sandra (Carl) Carlson of Salem, Ronda Dunn of Wilford, Jill (Russ) Miller of Wilford, Melanie Smith of Anchorage, Alaska and Todd (Brenda) Brower of Wilford, 17 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren and 17 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Glenna, a son Loyd, 2 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons, brothers; Joseph, Vern, Keith and Charles and a sister Raya Lewis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Henrys Fork LDS Stake Center(1508 West 3000 North) with Bishop Kendall Grant officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment with military rites will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
