Adell J Flint, 77 of St. Anthony, died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at home from heart failure.
Del was born on November 25, 1936 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Fredrick Adell and Leota Ellis Flint.
He graduated from South Fremont High School where he was active in sports and attended Ricks College and Mountain State College in Billings Montana on a football scholarship.
He served in the National Guard Combat Engineers. He did his basic training at Fort Ord, California and Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Scout Advisor, Sunday School President and as a Home Teacher. He served a 3 year mission with his wife as his companion in the Family History Center.
On July 5, 1958 he married Carla Spillman. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona L.D.S. Temple. They moved to San Jose, California right after getting married. Del had a job working in Construction for Conn Bauer. Later he went to work for the Santa Clara County as a Deputy Sheriff which he did for fifteen years. He also lived Springfield Oregon for two years where he was a co-owner in a business. He and Carla lived in Arizona for 5 years. In 1995 he retired and moved back to St. Anthony.
Del loved the great outdoors. He loved his family, friends, fishing, golfing and working in his yard.
After many heart surgeries and pioneering a new device called an L-Vad that kept him alive while waiting for a heart transplant, he received a new heart in 2001.
He is survived by his wife Carla of St. Anthony; and two children, Bruce (Debbi) Flint of Parker, ID; and Pamela Flint (Carlos Orrell) of Idaho Falls, ID.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
