Delbur Wayne Beckley, 81, of Rexburg, died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Madison Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was born September 27, 1928 in Conway, Missouri to Samuel Earl and Bertha Jane Webster Beckley.
He married Josephine Lundgren on March 10, 1951 in Boise, Idaho. He and Jo were married for 58 years and raised four boys together.
He was a loving husband and devoted father. He spent much of his time coaching his boys baseball teams, and was one of the founders of the Little League Baseball Association in Rexburg. He also coached many All-Star Teams.
Del loved to hunt and fish with his boys and grandchildren. He also loved to cook and especially enjoyed family cookouts. He was the happiest when the family was together.
He worked for Mountain Bell Phone Company as a craftsman and later as Supervisor. He retired in 1982 after 32 years of service. After retirement, he and Jo loved to spend their winters in Kino Bay, Mexico. He was big hearted and loved everyone. He will be greatly missed by his family and life-long friends.
He is survived by his wife Jo of Rexburg; children, James (Terri) Beckley and Mark (Nola) Beckley of Rexburg, Perry Beckley of Boise, Carl (Leslie) Beckley of Idaho Falls; sisters, Buelah Fowler of Boise, Dorothy Cardon of Washington State, Dorma Lee (Grant) Nelson of Caldwell; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, two sisters and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Rexburg 4th Ward LDS Chapel, 166 South 1st East, with Bishop Brad Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the stake center prior to services. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
