Dennis Adrin Stocks, 89, of Newdale, was released from his long battle with Parkinson's Disease on May 1, 2016. He was born February 9, 1927, the eldest son and second child of Adrin Dawson and Venida Schwendiman Stocks.

When he was seventeen years old, he enlisted in the US Army and served his country in World War II. When he returned home he met Glenna Stewart of Wilford. They married on January 3, 1948, and were together for more than 68 years.

They lived in Wilford and Ashton before settling in Newdale. They loved traveling to Arizona and spent 21 winters there. Dennis enjoyed farming, riding horses and snowmobiles, tying flies, fishing and building things with his hands. He was full of humor and fun to be around.

He will be missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucile Stocks Statham, Ila Ray Stocks Cherry, Anna Lee Stocks Haddon; brothers Melvin and Dallas who died as children; nephews Kay Statham and Gene Statham.

He is survived by his wife Glenna Stocks; daughters Diane (William) Stocks Gierisch, Wanda Stocks Hillman; a brother Rex (Kathy) Stocks; grandchildren, Brenda (Raymond) Giersch Tracy, Erin Gierisch, Dennis Colter Hillman, Glen Marshall (Rebecca) Gierisch, Darci (Jonathan) Hillman Butlin and Joshua (Michelle) Hillman; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 9, at the Newdale LDS Chapel with Bishop Jason Grover officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Madison County Veterans and Idaho Honor Guard.
