A beautiful family reunion in the heavens took place October 30, 2016 for Dennis Ray Van Wagner. He joined his parents Eugene and Luella, and brothers Kent Lynn and Arza Michael Van Wagner.
Born April 18, 1951 in Bountiful, Utah, Dennis was the 2nd child and born with RH negative complications. He out grew or out preformed every limitation that the doctors and the world placed on him. Though he was only expected to live to his preteens, he lived a full active 65 years life. He championed the integration of special and general education in the public school system in the early 60's. This was always a great joy and achievement for him. He especially loved telling everyone that one of his teachers and a strong supporter of this movement was his mother. While he may have had disabilities, his family always told him that he could do anything! Despite the physical setbacks, he enjoyed hunting (with his father and brothers), fishing, camping, driving, playing sports, working, and he competed in the Special Olympics for wrestling. These are his fondest memories. His courage and strength always came with a smile and giggle! He always said "I didn't choose to be like this but they done know how great a person I am."
Dennis loved sports but baseball most of all! He even helped the sports writer for the Post Register, get the facts and stats of the games right. To all of us that knew him well, we will never be able to look at baseball games the same way.
Most of all, he will be remembered for his big heart; always smiling and talking with everyone. He made a large impact on many lives by just being himself. While, he is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers; we know he is happy to be with those he loves once again. We, who are left behind, will always cherish the memories and miss him dearly.
To join in honoring his memory the viewing and funeral will be held Friday November 4th at Flamm Funeral Home. The viewing will be held at 1:00pm and Funeral to follow at 2:00pm.
