Diane Barclay Nielson passed away peacefully on January 18, 2023, at age 68. She was born on May 30, 1954 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Robert and Verlean Barclay. She was the fifth of seven children.

Diane met her future husband, Rick Nielson, at West High School in Salt Lake City when they were in the seminary choir together. After Rick returned from his mission, they were married on May 1, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. From that union, they were blessed with four children: Nick, Amanda, Jane, and Andrew.

Diane was an avid learner. She attended BYU studying Family Consumer Sciences. She learned many skills there that she used with her family. After her third child, Jane was born, she went back to school and finished her degree. Throughout her life, she was always taking classes.

In 2010, her life changed when her husband of 34 years passed away from cancer. The last few years she has struggled with being paralyzed because of back injuries. The Lord peacefully ended her suffering on the morning of January 18 as she peacefully slipped through the veil into the open arms of family and friends that had passed on before her,

Diane is survived by her mother Verlean Walker; her four children: Nick (Amy), Amanda (Chris), Jane (Cody), and Andrew; her 5 siblings and her 12 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rick Nielson; her father, Robert Barclay and her sister, Linda Lemon.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, Idaho. Funeral services will be Monday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Flamm Funeral Home. Interment will be at Memorial Redwood Cemetery (6500 S. Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84123) at 5:00 p.m.
