Dianna Gay Sommer, 76, of Rexburg, passed away peacefully June 4, 2023, at Madison Memorial Hospital with her sisters by her side.

She was born July 7, 1946, in Rexburg to Kenneth and Madge Brower Sommer.  She attended Adams Elementary with her sister, Linda, through the sixth grade.

Dianna was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

As a child she loved to ride her bike and being in the outdoors.  She had a tomcat that she liked to dress up in doll clothes and push around in a baby buggy.

Dianna started attending Journeys in 2004 where she learned life skills and many crafts that she enjoyed doing.

Her family members provided care for her for many years and the last 20 years Linda Wilson served as Dianna's aide.

Dianna was a jokester and enjoyed making her family and friends laugh.

She is survived by her siblings, Beverly Bowen, Arlene (Jerold) Henderson, Carol Briggs, and Linda Sommer; sisters-in-law, Annette Sommer and Christina Berni-Sommer; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, DeVon, Kim, and Kendall; sister-in-law, Elaine Sommer and brother-in-law, Larry Briggs.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, at the Burton East Chapel.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.  Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
