Obituary

Richard "Dick" Allen Lage, 77, of Sugar City, chose to try a different fishing hole, so he picked up and moved to a different spot on the pond on Monday, April 7, 2014. He was born July 23, 1936 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to William and Lucile Lage.

He graduated from Idaho Falls High School, served in the U.S. Army then attended Art Center in Los Angeles.

He met DaRell Virgin back in Swan Valley and they later were married in Sugar City on June 12, 1959. They lived in Hollywood, Santa Monica, then Huntington Beach California. They then loaded up everything and moved back to the Sugar City area in 1970. He always loved the Swan Valley area and the people there. He loved attending the Old Timers reunion and the Dam Kids reunions.

He was a Technical Illustrator and worked for McDonnell Douglas and EG&G for most of his life. He said it never felt like work it was more like a hobby for him.

He was a very artistic man with many mediums including airbrush, pencil, paints and inks. He also was an excellent wood carver.

Dad loved fishing but nothing came close to the love he has for Mom.

He is survived by his wife, DaRell of Sugar City, Idaho, his children, Eric V. (Francine) Lage of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Gretchen (Ed) Borrell of Sandy, Utah, and Justin C. (Susie) Lage of Sugar City, Idaho, as well as 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Sugar City Stake Center. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery, with military rites. The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and caregivers for their caring support and help.
