Don Worrell

Donald Ray Worrell, 94 of St. Anthony, Casa Grande, AZ and recently
Rexburg, passed away April 9, 2018.

Don was born in St. Anthony, Idaho on February 15, 1924 to Kyle
J Worrell and Cecilie Faye Watts. He grew up and attend school in the
St. Anthony area. He joined the Navy in 1942, shortly after the attack
on Pearl Harbor. He married Mona Powell, St. Anthony prior to his
deployment. He served in California patrolling the harbors then later on
Quadulan in the Marshall Islands. Don proudly received a high school
diploma from South Fremont H.S. in 2005.

After returning from the service, Don started farming in the St. Anthony
area. His marriage to Mona was one of the casualties of the long
separation of wartime. He married Althea Hill of St. Anthony on January
8, 1947. They had five children; Dan R. Worrell of Salt Lake Utah,
CharlLee Fresh (Terry) of Pocatello, Phyllis Herron (Tom) of Gaffney,
S.C., Marie Worrell (Don Fresh) of St. Anthony and Burt Worrell
(Pauline, P.J.) of Rexburg.

Don continued to farm in the St. Anthony area until his retirement. He
loved fishing, hunting, golfing and cards. He was a member of the St.
Anthony Posse, St. Anthony VFW, a 2nd councilor in the LDS Sunday
School, Scout Leader, a Fremont County Commissioner for 10 years
starting in 1966, and an active bowler with several area leagues. After
retirement he and Althea were able to travel and visited almost every
state in the USA. They also traveled to Mexico, Turkey, Jordan and
Israel. When their traveling days were over, they settled in Casa
Grande, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Robert Worrell
(Hazel) of Ashton, Edward Worrell (Norma & Doris) of St. Anthony and AZ,
Helen Potter (Neldon) of Shelly, Harry Worrell (Helen) of St. Anthony,
his daughter Phyllis Herron and granddaughter Dawn R. Dobe.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony.) The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery with military rites by the St. Anthony Veterans and the Naval Honor Guard.
