Donald C Rice passed away peacefully Tuesday June 10, 2014 just six days short of his ninetieth birthday and one month short of his 70th wedding anniversary.
He was born June 16th 1924 in Parker Idaho to Eva Archibald and Rawl Rice. He married Shirley Henderson July 12, 1944 in the Logan Utah temple.
A gentle 5'4" giant with a spirit bigger than the great outdoors, he was a man of few words. He didn't tell us how to live, he showed us. He was a hardworking dairy farmer who cared more about people than possessions. His handshake was his bond. He was faithful and dedicated to his family and his beliefs. He loved God and served his country during WWII. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survived by his wife Shirley, his brother Cleve Rice, St Anthony Idaho and his children: Brenda Dudley (Lewis) Draper, Utah , Jan Hedberg (Alan) Bountiful, Utah , Shari Meacham (Ken) Menan Idaho, Daris Rice (Venna) Draper Utah and Jody Neff Idaho Falls, Idaho. He has 24 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday June 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the Sugar City 4th LDS Ward Chapel. Friends and family may pay respects Friday June 13th at the Bert Flamm Mortuary in St. Anthony from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. He will be buried in the Rexburg Cemetery with military rites from the St. Anthony Veterans where he was a member of the American Legion Post 22.
