On October 14, 2014 Donald Dean Trupp joined his Heavenly family. Donald was born on January 30, 1930 in Wilford Idaho. He was the tenth of eleven children of Anna and Henry Trupp Sr., first generation Americans.
Donald graduated from St Anthony High school in 1948. It was in high school that he met the one true love of his life, Jean Fletcher. Donald and Jean were married on September 3, 1950.
Donald earned a BS degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of Idaho in 1952, and he was also commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Air Force that same year. Donald reported for duty in January of 1953. After his assignment ended in Japan, Donald and Jean returned home to Idaho; where he began farming in Newdale which eventually became known as "The Ranch" of the Trupp family.
Donald was a man that cared deeply about his family, and enjoyed being a part of everything they did. He was proud of his genealogy, and would spend hours tracking and recording members of the Trupp and Fletcher family. It was a special moment for the family when Donald would recite the Family prayer in German before a holiday meal.
He was a compassionate man that always found a way to help people. When his family began skiing together, Donald joined the Bear Gulch Ski Patrol and became Patrol Director. Donald was a First Aid supervisor on the Teton Dam Project and later organized a Chicken Fry at the farm to help raise the spirits of those affected when the Dam failed. After Donald sold the farmable land, he and Jean would volunteer for the Forest Service in Sitka, Alaska for two summers. He also took great pride in serving the people of Fremont County as a County Commissioner for six years.
Whether he was at church, on the farm, or just the Post Office, Donald will be remembered as a man with a smile as big as his heart - a selfless man that would put the well being of a stranger above his own. Always there when you needed him, Always there for his family, and Always there, telling a story.
Donald was preceded in death by his mother, father, ten siblings and twin granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife Jean Trupp of Vancouver WA, children, Craig (Cheryl Brekke) Trupp of St Anthony ID, Terri (Mark) Smith of Richland WA, Karen (Richard) Beilsmith of Vancouver WA, Mark (Patti) Trupp of Driggs ID, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
