Obituary

On Saturday, July 20, 2013 Donna Dee Camphouse of Rexburg passed from this life. She escaped the shell that had held her prisoner for so long. Donna received excellent care from Solace-Hospice and the Gardens of Rigby Assisted-Living.

Donna was born at Teton, ID, the oldest child of Harold Monroe Fritch and Mattie Rae Clark. In her early life her family moved frequently but she spent a great deal of time with her grandmother, Rhoda Clark, therefore she considered Teton to be her hometown.

Donna was a child of the Depression and because of the economic condition of her family she was required to leave school after completing the ninth grade and go to work to help support her family. Although she had to end her formal education early, Donna was well read and could converse on many subjects.

On July 15, 1946 Donna married Kermit R. Camphouse in Rexburg, ID. They made their home in Rexburg, where they raised seven children. Kermit died on April 29, 1998. Donna longed to be reunited with him the remaining fifteen years of her life.

Donna was a charter member of the Daughter's of the Utah Pioneers in Rexburg and in 2012 was honored as a fifty-year member. She enjoyed that organization very much as she had a great interest in history and over the years enjoyed giving the histories of the various pioneers.

Donna was also a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and had an interest in any issue that affected the veterans. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a nursery leader for over twenty years. She loved the little ones and looked forward to working with them each week.

Donna was a champion of the underdog. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a soft place to land and a sympathetic ear. There was always room at her table for another person and plenty to eat.

Donna is survived by her children, Kermit Richard "Dick" (Sherry) , Linda (Jay) Fuhriman both of Idaho Falls, Brenda of Mountain Home, Thomas Brent (Pamela) of Rigby, Lorna (Richard) Callas of Rock Springs, WY, Darlene (Darwin) Goodson of Idaho Falls, Deann (Richard) Bell of Mountain Home. 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol (Eldon) Bickley of Pocatello, Raymond (Joy) Lavatta of Fort Hall. She is also survived by her special adopted children Kevin and Malinda Thomson of Rexburg and Robert "Bullet" Smith of Rock Springs, WY.

She is preceded in death by her spouse, Kermit; parents, Harold and Mattie Fritch; brother, William "Bill" Fritch; and sister, Margorie Ames.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at the Rexburg 11th Ward Chapel, 590 Summerwood Drive. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
