Donna Ball Eckman, 90, of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away Tuesday June 18, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Donna was born November 3, 1933, in Rexburg, Idaho to Joseph Henry Ball and Ina Thomson. She attended school at Sugar-Salem schools and graduated valedictorian. She continued her education at Ricks College where she met and married Melvin Foster Eckman on June 2, 1954, in the Idaho Falls temple. They recently celebrated their 70 year anniversary.

She returned to Ricks College when she was in her 50s to obtain her associate degree, again she was valedictorian in pre law. She was a great help to Melvin in his schooling, in his career, and in his life.

Donna loved raising her two sons, Alan Bruce and Brian Joseph. She helped raise her grandchildren because her sons had homes on each side of her home.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in almost every calling over the years. Her favorite being in the scouting program. She received her Silver Beaver and was proud that she was a registered scout leader for over 60 years.
She served several missions, including family history consultant. She was proud that she had indexed over 300,000 names, and had temple work done for over 7,000 people.

She is survived by her husband Melvin of Rexburg; her sons, Alan Bruce and Brian Joseph (Becky) Eckman of Rexburg, Idaho. A sister, Joyce (Grant) Saurey of Rexburg. A brother, Val (Lucy) Ball of Rexburg. 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Maurine (Aaron) Angell , and Marsha (Albert) Beazer, and a grandson, Joshua Brian Eckman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Flamm Funeral Mortuary for family and close friends. A viewing will begin at 10:00a.m.
