Donna Ruth Harris 90 of Salem died May 5, 2016. Donna was born October 13, 1925 in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the fourth of six children born to Edmond Mckinley Primm and his wife Zella Lorena Harris Primm.
Donna in her younger years loved a good picture show and went to the theatre every chance she got. She like most girls dreamed of being a wonderful dancer. She was known to skip and run where ever she went.
Donna was accustomed to hard work at a very young age. In 1930 the Primm family rented a farm near Wilder, Idaho where they farmed for the next two years. The Primm family worked hard. As a girl many of her childhood years were spent working in fields and orchards near Caldwell and Boise, Idaho picking fruits and thinning beets.
The family then moved to Washington where she worked alongside of her mother and father in the restaurant business as a waitress and later a cashier.
When Donna was a young mother she moved to Idaho Falls with her small family working hard to make ends meet as a single mother. She did what was necessary to always take care of her children. In the 1950's she was married to Cyrus Fay Harris and together they brought the family to the family farm in Salem, Idaho. Together the family worked hard to run the farm and mom again worked hard to provide for the needs of her children. Donna was blessed with seven children; Gloria, Bonnie, Richard, Douglas, Cindy, Don, and Fay.
Some of Donna's favorite past times were selling at flea markets, garage sales, playing bingo at the Eagles, collecting old pennies, and watching old western movies. She owned a small dance studio with her daughter where she helped teach, judge, and organize competitions for Baton Twirlers from many states. She played on many bowling leagues. She worked as an aide at Sugar City Elementary School for many years. She then became a cook for the same school district until the time of her retirement.
Retirement gave Donna the opportunity and time to go to more garage sales, have more garage sales, and get to know more people, and make new friends.
Donna is survived by her children: Gloria Caller of Boise, Idaho, Bonnie Shearrouse of Colorado, Richard Miller of Texas, Douglas Harris of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Don Harris of Salem, Idaho, and Fay Harris of Salem,Idaho. She is survived by her sisters Darlene and Rosemary from Washington and her brother Reece also from Washington. Donna has 34 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Cyrus Fay Harris, her daughter Cindy, her brothers Ross and Harris, her father Edmond Mckinley Primm, and her mother Zella Lorena Harris Primm. Donna will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 10, 2016 at Flamm Funeral Home located at 61 North 1st East Rexburg, Idaho. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in Sugar City Cemetery.
