Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Doris Bernice Parkinson, 82, passed away peacefully in Rexburg, Idaho surrounded by her family on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Rexburg Homestead Assisted Living Center.
Bernice was born July 10, 1933 in St. Anthony, Idaho to LeRoy Jones and Dora Allgood Jones, followed by a brother Merrill and a sister Janice. She grew up in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1951.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout her life.
She married the love of her life Charles Parkinson in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on August 28,1953. Bernice centered her life around her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She had a great love of reading , flowers, gardening and taking walks. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed hosting family dinners and gatherings thought the years.
Bernice was blessed with the special friendships she carried throughout her life with her dear close friends, Barbara, Carla, GaeNell, Clayta and Marge whom she met as a young girl and remained close friends until death. She also had a close friendship with her sister Janice.
She was a kind and caring, extraordinary woman who's influence will be felt forever in the lives of her family. She will be clearly missed.
Bernice is survived by her children; Mike Parkinson, Scott (Patty) Parkinson of Plano, Jill Parkinson of Rexburg, grandchildren; Kelsie (Carl) Christianson, Kalli Burrell, Brandon (Taylor) Parkinson, Natalie Parkinson and Josh Parkinson and a sister Janice (Leon) Lundquist. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother.
The family wishes to thank Avalon Hospice Care and the staff at Rexburg Homestead Assisted Living for their kind and compassionate care given to Bernice the last year of her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Plano LDS Church (5973 North 5000 West). The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to service at the church. Interment will be in the Plano Cemetery.
