Doris Myrlene Woodbury Stewart, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 16, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born in her family home in View, Idaho on June 20,1928 to Leland and Myrlene Woodbury. She was the oldest of nine children. She was a free spirit who loved riding horses, climbing trees and exploring the ranch where she was raised. She was the Burley Cassia County Rodeo Queen in 1945 and was also crowned the Golden Green Ball Queen. She graduated from Burley High School. She met and fell in love with her sweetheart of 64 years, Clyde Stewart, while he was home on leave from the Navy during World War II. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on November 13, 1946. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving faithfully in many callings. She especially enjoyed being a temple worker for many years. She was a successful business woman, owning and operating Nature's Nook. After retirement she served two missions with her husband to New York and Columbus, Ohio. One of her greatest loves was serving and helping others. She had many dear friends who will truly miss her.
She is survived by her husband Clyde Stewart of Rexburg and children; Connie (Ernie) Schrader of Layton, Utah, Shirley (Wade) Virgin of Blackfoot, Idaho, Lorraine (Daris) Weimer of Rexburg, Idaho, Yvonne (Jim) Ricks of Layton, Utah, Ken (Lorna) Stewart of Idaho Falls, Idaho, 20 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents and three grandsons.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Rexburg LDS 3rd Ward Chapel (345 South 3rd West). The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Saturday at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
