Obituary

Doris Pauline Cunningham Taylor Age 85 passed away at Homestead Assisted Living Center in Saint Anthony, Idaho on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

Doris was born to Samuel Robert and Pauline Naomi Storer Cunningham on May 27, 1936 in Ogden, Utah at her Auntie Zet's home.  She was the youngest of 8 children.  She had 4 brothers, Ralph, Lewis, Fred and Leslie and 3 sisters, Fay, Betty and Darhl.

She grew up on Harrisville Road in Ogden where she was fortunate to have both sets of her grandparents living right by her.

Doris attended school in Ogden at Lincoln Elementary, Mount Fort Junior High and Ogden High school.  She danced at half time at football games and loved singing.  She had a beautiful voice.  Her mom played the piano for church choir.   Doris sang in the choir and when she was in Mutual they had road shows where each ward would have a play and they would go to each ward in the stake and perform.  During the 24 th of July days, there was a program put on in Odgen called "All Faces West", Mom and her best friend, Mona auditioned for it and they were picked to perform.  She was honored and did that for 2 years.

While at a choir practice, two young men came to church and one of them would end up being her husband.  She married Roland Taylor, the love of her life on April 17, 1953 in Logan, Utah at the LDS Temple, he was her everything.  They had 3 girls, Karolyn, Suzanne and Marilyn.

Doris was a homemaker and in 1960 they bought their first home in Declo, Idaho where they raised their girls and later moved to Rupert in 1965.  In 2007, after declining health issues, they moved to Rexburg, Idaho.  They resided there until they had to move into assisted living in June of 2020.

In 1986 Doris started putting together van and bus trips.  She did them for 9 years.  They would go to Elko, Wendover, Reno, Mesquite, Las Vegas and Laughlin Nevada.  Most of the trips were with Retired Seniors.  They made lots of good friends.

Mom loved her family, they were the most important thing in her life.  She loved to cook to for them.  She always looked forward to family gatherings.   Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas, because she knew that it would bring all her family together.  She had a great sense of humor.  She loved teaching her grandchildren how to bake.  Baking goodies for her neighbors, friends and family was her favorite thing to do.  Every year she spent days at making Christmas candy and sweet breads to share far and wide.  She was a master at making homemade cards on the computer and preferred them over store bought cards.  Everyone loved receiving them from her.

She is survived by her husband, of 68 years, Roland, her daughters, Karolyn (Terry) Hodge, Marilyn Taylor (Ed Stamper) and son-in-law, Gerald Larsen (Tammie).  Nine grandchild, 26 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren and 3 on the way.

She was preceded in death, by her parents, all of her siblings, her daughter, Suzanne and her great granddaughter, Ashleigh.

The family would like to thank The Homestead Assisted Living Center in Saint Anthony and staff for their loving care and kindness.  Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their amazing care over the past 2 years and very special heartfelt thank you to her hospice nurse, Audrey, we couldn't have gotten through this without her.
