Dorma Nelson, 91, of Teton, passed away Thursday October 8, 2015 at the Homestead Assisted Living Center in St. Anthony Idaho.
She was born April 18, 1924 to Norval G. Schwendiman and Emily Artella Ward in Newdale, Idaho. She was the oldest of six. She grew up with her siblings working on the family farm near Newdale.
She married Max C. Nelson on November 12, 1943. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Teton City and raised three boys. Dennis, Harold and Brett.
Dorma worked many years in the cafeteria at Ricks College. Then as the building supervisor at the Hart PE building. She retired from Ricks College in 1986.
She enjoyed cooking, canning, fishing and gardening. She always grew beautiful flowers and a nice garden and shared produce with her family and neighbors.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. She enjoyed attending the Temple often and doing genealogy, and family history. She loved spending time with her family and cooking Dutch oven potatoes.
She is survived by three sons. Dennis Nelson (Lara Lee-deceased) of Burton, Harold Nelson (Peggy) of Trabuco Canyon, California, and Brett Nelson (Marilyn) of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Eight grandchildren and many great-grand children. Sisters Maureen Scott, of Annis, Velma Calaway, of Salem, and a brother Lynn Schwendiman, of St. Anthony.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Max Nelson, sisters Rea Pincock, Elva Crain, LuDean Crain, daughter in-law Lara Lee Nelson, grandson Jared Nelson, and grand-daughter in law Jamie Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, at the Teton 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Rand Hillman officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening October 16, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Teton - Newdale Cemetery.
