On the peaceful afternoon of September 20, 2011, Dorothy May Hutson beloved wife, mother, and grandmother was reunited with her son, parents and brothers at the age of 74, due to diabetic complications.
Dorothy was born in Bowmansville, Pennsylvania on October 30, 1936, to Elmer and Margie Bauman.
During her childhood, Dorothy attended an Menonite school in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As a teenager, she started working as a nurses aide and continued this profession into her twenties. In 1970, she moved west to Oregon, where she met and married the love of her life, Fay Duane Hutson, Sr., on March 25, 1972.
Dorothy took great pride in her marriage and in her two sons, Nelson Dean Slaymaker and Fay Duane Hutson, Jr. Her boys were her heart, soul and life.
Some of her great passions in life were cooking, family, friends and taking care of the children in her home daycare, most of whom she considered her own.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Fay Duane Hutson Sr., son Fay Duane Hutson Jr., five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters and her brother. She was preceded in death by her son, Nelson Dean Slaymaker, parents Elmer and Margie Bauman, brothers Eugene and Chester Bauman.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24 at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Twin Falls Cemetery.
