Dorothy Schaat 82, passed away October 13, 2010 in Moses Lake, WA.
She was born to Ralph and Elizabeth Golder on April 23, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Menan, ID and graduated from Midway High School. She married Frank Schaat in December, 1950 and together they were proud parents of five children, four daughters and one son. Frank passed away in June, 1997.
She lived in Washington and Idaho most of her life. Her passion for caring and helping people led her back to school, with four small children at home, to receive her nursing degree from Big Bend Community College. After retiring from nursing she served a family history mission in Salt Lake City for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dedicated in family history, she did name extractions for many years. She enjoyed painting, and gardening, but most of all she loved to dance.
She is survived by her five children and spouses, Frances Gunn, Lucinda (Bill) West, Jennifer (Al) Merritt all of Moses Lake; Peter (Betty) Schaat, of St. Anthony; Elaine (Matt)Williams of Brigham City, UT; twelve grandchildren and spouses, Shawn (Jill) Robnett, Jeff (Carrie) Robnett, Amy and Emily West, Jake Later, Paige and Trent Beierman, Ryan and Cade Schaat, Madison, Cole and Seth Williams. Nine great-grandchildren and five siblings, sister, Irene Schaat of Rexburg, ID; brother, Ralph A (LaRee) Golder of Menan; sister, Marian (Gyle) Hollingsworth of North Ogden, UT; brother, Steven (Barbara) Golder of Menan; and brother, Ray Golder of Bountiful, UT.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 16, 2010, in the St. Anthony 2nd Ward LDS chapel, 145 East 1st North. The family will receive friends on Saturday 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the St. Anthony Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
