Obituary

Dorothy "Dottie" Francis Sharp, 83, of Rigby passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Dottie was the first child of George and Mildred Grabbe of North Platte, Nebraska.

Dottie was active in 4H while attending grade and high school and became a skilled judge of livestock. She was granted absence from school to attend the state fair in Lincoln, Nebraska for excelling at such a level of excellence in judging livestock.

Dottie graduated high school from North Platte, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska with a Regents Scholarship.

Later in life Dottie became involved with fabric art with her daughter Debra at her side and learning from a book to teach crocheting and opening a yarn shop in Lexington, Nebraska. The shop window proclaimed, "Dottie Knitting" and to some that is who she was.

Dottie became skilled in many aspects of fabric art. She used her skill of direct dying on silk into some of her pictures and later into art quilts. She became a member of the Art Guild and the Quilters Guide and won many design awards. Many of her church banners may be seen at the Presbyterian churches in St. Anthony and Rigby and her Alter cloth at the Little Church in the Pines.

In 1986, Dottie and a little black cat moved to Eastern Idaho from Nebraska to share her life with husband to be Kenneth Sharp.

During her life in Idaho with husband, Kenneth, Dottie started a career and retired from Key Bank.

Dottie is survived by her husband Kenneth of Rigby, daughter Debra Sanchez of University Place, Washington, her sister Mary Henry and family of North Platte, Nebraska, as well as a host of friends whom adored her dearly.

A memorial service will be held at the Community Presbyterian Church in Rigby, Idaho at 6:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, with a meal to follow for family and friends. Condolences may be sent online to www.flammfh.com.
