Obituary

Doyle Jensen Walters, 86, of St. Anthony passed away at the Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg, ID on February 28, 2018.


Born August 4, 1931 to Orrin Stoddard Walters and Dessie Alice Jensen in Salem, Idaho. While growing up he lived in Salem, Sunnydale, and Idaho Falls. He graduated from high school in Idaho Falls in 1949 and attended Ricks College in the fall of that year.


He married Vida Hanks on September 22, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They were blessed with six children: Kerry, Debra, Cathy, Renee, Bruce and Jan. He was proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Doyle loved being outside and on the move. He farmed and drove long haul trucking for over 30 years. In 1979 he and Vida divorced and on September 3, 1990 he married Clarice Shirley Spatig Lewis. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple.


Doyle is survived by is wife, Shirley of St. Anthony. His children; Kerry (Tina) Walters of Las Vegas, NV, Debra (Brent) Nelson of Gilbert, AZ, Cathy (Kevin) Ringel of Rigby, ID Renee (Todd) Savage of Hyde Park, UT, Bruce (Karen) Walters of Highland, UT, Jan MacPherson of Las Vegas, NV, stepchildren Terry (Ramona) Lewis and Todd Lewis of St. Anthony, ID, Shari (Paul) Gray of Shelley, ID, and a brother, Warren Walters of Newdale, ID. He has 30 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren. Doyle was preceded in death by his parents Orrin and Dessie Walters, his infant brother, brothers Reese and Val Walters, his son-in-law Scott MacPherson and brother-in-law Stanley Hazen Spatig.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Homestead Assisted Living and Homestead Hospice Service, it was a great comfort to know the quality care he received there.


Funeral services will be Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center, 247 E. 4th N., with Bishop Jack Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.


The family suggests donations be made to BYU Idaho.
