Obituary

Edith Mae Meadows-Hartman, age 89 of Rexburg, ID, died on May 26, 2025 at the Homestead in Rexburg, ID.

Edith Mae Meadows-Hartman was born April 28, 1936 in Franklin, WV, the oldest child of Okey Lee Simmons and Eva Mae Lambert Simmons. She has one surviving sibling, Joanne Nobles.  She also had a younger brother, Charles Okey Simmons who survived four days after birth.

She attended school in Accomac, VA, graduating from Accomac High School with honors.

On June 25,1955, she married Floyd Claybon Meadows and was the mother of one child, Keith Meadows who currently resides in Rigby, ID.  She has 6 grandchildren; Karli, Hailey, Kyle, Adam, Jason and Aubrey and 4 great grandchildren.

After 37 years of marriage, Floyd passed away in October of 1992.  After seven years of being alone, she married a childhood friend, Ivan Leroy Hartman on July 10, 1999.  On April 6, 2015, Ivan passed away.

In her younger years, Edith worked at Campbell Soup, Hartford Insurance and several medical offices with the last being an orthopedic surgeon's office which she dearly loved.

Edith had a number of hobbies such as sewing, making many of her clothes, cake decorating and working with various charitable groups.

In addition, Edith was a dog lover having a number of dogs throughout her life who were treated very well and had the best life possible.

She was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints being able to serve in a number of callings and was able to serve a Service Mission while married to Ivan.

Edith will be buried at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron, MD.  Services will be scheduled at a later date.
