Edna Mae Amonette Garner passed away peacefully at her home on July 7, 2009. She was born September 4, 1924 in Ferron, Utah to Landon and Minnie Lee Foster Amonette, the 8th child of 11 children. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Before marrying, she served in the Northern States Mission. On February 27, 1952, she married John Ted Garner in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple. Together they raised 11 children. For many years she was a beautician in her own home, and worked side by side with her husband for 17 years in the Garner Concrete business. They had a standard date night on Saturday night to watch Lawrence Welk. She was always involved in, and loved family history and genealogy. She had a massive collection of pictures. She was also a world class shopper! Her motto was "Shop till you drop, then crawl." She was excellent at it. With her husband, she served missions in Dallas, Texas and Enugu, Nigeria. For many years she also served faithfully in Blazer Scouts and Primary, as well as service in the Idaho Falls temple. Her greatest joy was her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband John Ted Garner of Rexburg; children, Michael (Jean Ann) Garner of Rexburg, Matthew (Susan) Garner of Sugar City, Mark (Iris) Garner of Rexburg, Kim (Spencer) Geddes of Cove, Utah, James Garner of Rexburg, Jodi (Andres) Flores of American Fork, Utah, John (Hope) Garner of Cedar Hills, Utah, Rebecca (Brad) Weaver of Rexburg, Rachel (James) Lovejoy of Idaho Falls, Ruth (Jeff) Summers of Eagle Mountain, Utah and Thomas (Cammi) Garner of Cedar Hills, Utah; 61 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings Marion (Keith) Jensen of Chubbuck, Idaho and Annie Kidd of Logan, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, and 7 brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11a.m.Monday, July 13, at the Rexburg 6th ward chapel ,with Bishop David Reeser officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Flamm Funeral in Rexburg and 10 a.m. to 10:45 prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Rexburg Cemetery.
