Edward Davies

Mar 6, 1933 — Oct 30, 2026

Edward Ellis Davies, 93, passed peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father October 30, 2026, at his home in North Edwards, CA, surrounded by family.

He was born March 6, 1933, in St. Anthony, ID, the eldest son of Edward Ellis Davies and Sarah LaVelma Smith.

He met the love of his life, Lueen Holman, while they were attending Sugar Salem High School and were married December 27, 1950, in St. Anthony, ID. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple, April 22, 1967.

Ellis is survived by his children: Roger (Sheri), Brett (Sandra), DeLynn (Lynn), Tanna (Larry) Pierce, Bruce (Krista), Neal (Debbie); 25 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren with one more arriving close to his birthday; siblings: Dennis (Teresa) and sister in-law Deanna Davies. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; June (Howard) Swenson, Dean (Faye), and Ted, 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild.

Ellis grew up on the family farm in Plano and started work at the age of 5 driving truck in the fields for Uncle Ed. His love of farming spilled over into creating what people referred to as the Davies Park at the North Edwards home. He loved to build things which came in handy when he purchased the family home consisting of a two-car garage and the exterior shell of the house. It gave all of us the chance to gain skills in home construction.

Ellis loved sports playing football and basketball in high school and M-Men ball for the church participating on many championship teams. After moving to California, he remained active in basketball and softball. Ellis loved to play on teams with his boys and was pitching slo-pitch softball late into his forties. He thoroughly enjoyed following his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their sporting endeavors. Fishing was the one passion that kept him active and young at heart until the very end.

Ellis was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the Young Men’s and Priesthood leadership in his earlier years in the Edwards Branch and Ward. He was called and served as a Stake Missionary for more than 25 years sharing his testimony of our Savior and His Gospel.
