Elaine Stoddard Munns, 80, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 in Archer, Idaho due to complications of cancer.
Elaine was born Dec. 18, 1931 in Parker, Idaho, to Annie Louisa Brown and Wyman Miner Stoddard. She was the eighth of 10 children.
She grew up in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School in 1950. She graduated from Ricks College in May 1955 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.
She married Delas Arthur Munns July 28, 1955, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They have lived and farmed in the Rexburg area all their married life while raising four children, Nicki, Steven, Nancy, and Garth. Elaine has 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elaine's life has been an example of hard work and service to others caring for her family, elderly neighbors, and serving in various church callings. She taught sixth grade in the Madison School District for 16 years before retiring. Her huge vegetable gardens have been a benefit to many and her beautiful roses and flower gardens a delight. Her greatest joy in life was her family, her students, and her book club friends.
Elaine is survived by her husband, daughters Nicki Hayes (Kyle), Nancy Parkinson (Brett J.), and a son Garth S. Munns (Stephanie).
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Steven S. Munns, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2012, in the Archer Ward Chapel ( 201 West 8000 South, Rexburg, ID). The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, Idaho, and from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Church prior to services. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho.
