Elaine Withers

February 1, 1956 — June 3, 2026

Rexburg

Elaine S. Withers of Mud Lake, Idaho passed away peacefully at home, on Wednesday, June 3rd, at the age of 70.

Elaine was born on February 1, 1956, in Payson, UT to Wilber and Blanche Shaw. She was the youngest of 5 children. Elaine grew up in Santaquin, UT where she enjoyed helping her dad on the family orchard, going hunting with her dad (mainly just to hike and be up in the mountains), fishing, and ice skating on their backyard pond. She graduated from Payson High School, and later took classes to become a stenographer.

Elaine always held a desire to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was called to serve in the Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh mission, and throughout her life continued to faithfully serve in the church callings extended to her.

She returned home from her mission, not to Utah but to Swan Valley, Idaho where her parents had purchased a ranch. This would be the steppingstone that would bring her to Idaho Falls, Idaho where she ended up on a blind date and found her eternal companion. On February 4, 1983, she married Alan Blair Withers in the Idaho Falls Temple. They settled in Mud Lake where they raised their 4 children and taught them the value of hard work, laughter and fun, and a love of the gospel. Elaine loved working alongside Alan and her family on the dairy farm. One of her favorite things was getting in the tractor and baling hay.

Some of Elaine’s hobbies were sewing, taking a drive and exploring new sites, being involved with her children and grandchildren, singing, and putting a puzzle together.

Elaine is survived by her children, Dustan (Candace) Withers Rexburg, ID, Amber (Andrew) Webb Raft River, ID, Kendra Withers Terreton, ID, Jenny (Drake) Hill Menan, ID, and her 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Helen (Leland) Robinson Woodland, UT, Suzanne (Phil) Palmer Vernal, UT, Janice (John) Walker Provo, UT, and brother Kenneth (Karen) Shaw Magna, UT.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alan, and parents Wilber and Blanche Shaw.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9th at the Terreton Stake Center. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Cemetery.
