Elda Pernella Josephson Clayburn Thompson, 98 of Sugar City, died Thursday, May 3, 2012. She was born September 23, 1913 at Driggs, Idaho to Ephraim and Amanda Jacobson Josephson. She was raised at Bates, Idaho where she attended school through the eighth grade. She then attended and graduated from Teton High School.
She married Merrill Clayburn September 23,1932 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. He died in 1986.
They lived at Midway and Heber, Utah then in 1946 they moved to Teton Basin, Idaho and later to Jackson, Wyoming. They had four children; Maxine (Verle) Wilding of Sugar City, Arlo (Patricia) Clayburn of Sandpoint, Idaho, Laron (Stacey) Clayburn of Rapid City, South Dakota and Merrell J. Clayburn who is deceased. The family also lived at Ashton and the past few years she has lived at Sugar City.
After her husband Merrill passed away she married Clem Thompson on January 30, 1988 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. He died in 2002.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church callings. She loved music, traveling, camping, hunting, fishing and boating on Jackson Lake, snowmobiling and dancing.
Besides three children, she is survived by 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, a son, three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Sugar City 2nd Ward Chapel with Bishop Walter Deitz officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Elliott Cemetery at Wilson, Wyoming. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
