Ellis George McCulloch, 69, of Rexburg passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following a long illness. He was born to Harry Elmer McCulloch and Wanda Esther Ward McCulloch in Rexburg, September 27, 1942.
Ellis married Julie Maestretti, April 19, 1968. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Ellis and Julie had five children, Linda Jones of Idaho Falls, Lane McCulloch of Orem, Utah, Andrea McCulloch-Watkins (Tim), of Logan, Utah, DeWayne McCulloch (Jenn) of Idaho Falls, and Michael McCulloch (Brittany) of Idaho Falls and 7 grandchildren.
Ellis was a true entrepreneur, establishing his own trucking company in 1967. He was known in the Upper Snake River Valley to many of the farmers who contracted his trucks and equipment to haul their hay, grain and potatoes. Following the Teton Dam Flood in 1976, Ellis started Timber Specialties with contracts for mine props, house logs and other timber products. His hard working nature and honesty landed him many loyal customers and friends along the way. Ellis never met a stranger. He never went anywhere in his travels that he didn't run into someone who knew him. Ellis enjoyed taking each of his children with him in the trucks when he traveled to various locations.
In life Ellis made friends, motivated those suffering trials, lifted and loved anyone in his reach. He showed us all that you don't have to look too far to see someone worse off than yourself. In the midst of his trials he never let anyone leave his presence without feeling better, more loved and inspired.
