Elmo Cheney Davis, 94, died Friday December 29, 2017 at his home in Rigby. He was born December 19, 1923 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Martin David and Cora Cheney Davis. He attended schools in St. Anthony and graduated from South Fremont High School.
After high school he was drafted into the Army and served in the European Campaign during WWII. Upon returning home from the war he married Loa Bagley in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on September 3, 1946. To this union two sons were born, Terry and Brian. He also attended Idaho State University where he studied refrigeration. Early in their marriage he was called up with the 116th National Guard Unit to serve for a year in Korea. After his military service he started working with his nephew at the St. Anthony Laundry Company, where he made many life long friends. He later worked for the State of Idaho Highway Department as a road engineer, until his retirement.
In 1983 his wife, Loa passed away. Then in 1991 he married Reta Hunter Summers. Through this marriage he gained three step sons and their families. In 2002 he and Reta moved to Rigby. Reta died in 2013.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life.
He is survived by his son, Brian (JoLynn) Davis of Rigby, Idaho, a daughter-in-law, Debbie Davis and a granddaughter Kellie Davis, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and three step-sons; Craig (Cassie) Summers, Jeff (Debbie) Summers, Kirk (Gloria) Summers all of Ririe, Idaho, as well as 11 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, LaMarr Davidson of Archer, Idaho and Verlean Walker of Egin, Idaho, and a brother Dale Davis of Twin Falls, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, Loa and Reta, a son Terry, an older brother Martin Davis and a younger brother Darrel Davis.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 3rd at the Rigby Stake Center, 258 West 1st North Rigby. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the stake center and again Wednesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in St. Anthony, with Military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home.
